Transitions

Space and Time

Each classroom has a daily schedule with routines from; Arrival, Large group, Breakfast, Small group, recall, etc.  Each classroom has a schedule clearly posted for staff and visitors and one in picture format for children to see, and most days follow it closely until you cannot. But oftentimes forget to consider how the daily schedule impacts the behavior of the children in the classroom until a concern strikes.

Classroom Environments: The Daily Routine and Classroom Space Both Matter

Remember the Classroom environment is influential in the way children behave as the environment is also a teacher. From the acoustics (how a room’s shape or size impacts being able to hear sounds clearly) lighting to the furniture layout and organization, the physical environment does affect how children behave and learn.

Interactive Group Time

Large group time is when children come together for discussions to learn, have fun,  and be part of the classroom community. This setting helps children begin to look at the world from the perspective of 'we' and 'ours'. Come and learn how to assist children in engaging and attending during group times.
